Calisthenics Park Brighton - Prenston Park
Prenston Calisthenics Park
Hello everyone!
I am glad to say that the council finally heard my prayers ( or maybe they read my emails? ) and they built a calisthenics playground in Preston Park.
There is no longer a need to drive half an hour to get to the wild park in Moulsecoomb ( which is still an amazing park, but a bit too far away ) because a new one has just been raised nearby.
The playground is smaller than the wild park, it has less equipment, but it’s more than enough to have a good workout or enjoy your free time with your kids.
I’ve already been there a couple of times and It’s very busy, especially with families with kids—way more than the Wild Park. So, if you are looking for a peaceful workout, you will have to go at a specific time( I would suggest weekdays )
PARK FEATURES
Floor
The entire surface of the playground is covered by a thick rubber floor. This rubber helps absorb and cushion the impact, preventing damage and injuries and making your workout safer
Exercise Board
If you are unsure of what exercises to do, you can refer to the board, which illustrates various exercises that can be performed using the park’s equipment. Additionally, each exercise has a QR code that demonstrates its execution.
EQUIPMENT
I would consider this a “standard “ playground with all the essential equipment for an effective workout.
CARDIO MACHINES
These are basic cardio machines. They are more than okay for a good warm-up but don’t expect to build a full workout around them. It’s better to have them than don’t.
You can find :
2 cross trainer
2 stationary bicycle
STRENGTH MACHINES/EQUIPMENT
Between the various machines or equipment we can find here we have :
Steps: from simple jumps to strength training for the legs, this is a versatile piece of equipment.
Knee raises: optimal to work on your CORE muscles.
Shoulder press: to train your shoulders. You can also change the intensity.
Wheels : this is more like a playful piece of equipment made for children .
BARS
Regarding Calisthenics, bars are the most important equipment, because they allow you to do the basics and spectacular movement and you can find many here at Preston Park.
Pull up bars
There are 3 pull-up bars , with different heights, one of them very low, so that also kids can catch them .
Parallel bars
As well as the pull up bars , there are 2 parallel bars with different heights.
Monkey bars / ladder
Unlike typical monkey bars , they are inclined. They are an amazing piece of equipment , useful to learn motor skills and train endurance and strength .
WALL BARS
The pool of exercises you can do with wall bars is broad. Stretching, mobility , strength exercises and so on .
Location
Preston Calisthenics Park is easy to find. It is located at the beginning of Preston Park, next to the tennis court.
You can reach this park in different ways:
by bus: using the line 27
by walk ( or bike/car ): via Preston Rd
