Calisthenics Park Brighton - Prenston Park
Hello everyone!
I am glad to say that the council finally heard my prayers ( or maybe they read my emails? ) and they built a calisthenics playground in Preston Park.
There is no longer a need to drive half an hour to get to the wild park in Moulsecoomb ( which is still an amazing park, but a bit too far away ) because a new one has just been raised nearby.
The playground is smaller than the wild park, it has less equipment, but it’s more than enough to have a good workout or enjoy your free time with your kids.
I’ve already been there a couple of times and It’s very busy, especially with families with kids—way more than the Wild Park. So, if you are looking for a peaceful workout, you will have to go at a specific time( I would suggest weekdays )
PARK FEATURES
EQUIPMENT
I would consider this a “standard “ playground with all the essential equipment for an effective workout.
CARDIO MACHINES
These are basic cardio machines. They are more than okay for a good warm-up but don’t expect to build a full workout around them. It’s better to have them than don’t.
You can find :
2 cross trainer
2 stationary bicycle
STRENGTH MACHINES/EQUIPMENT
Between the various machines or equipment we can find here we have :
Steps: from simple jumps to strength training for the legs, this is a versatile piece of equipment.
Knee raises: optimal to work on your CORE muscles.
Shoulder press: to train your shoulders. You can also change the intensity.
Wheels : this is more like a playful piece of equipment made for children .
BARS
Regarding Calisthenics, bars are the most important equipment, because they allow you to do the basics and spectacular movement and you can find many here at Preston Park.
Location
Preston Calisthenics Park is easy to find. It is located at the beginning of Preston Park, next to the tennis court.
You can reach this park in different ways:
by bus: using the line 27
by walk ( or bike/car ): via Preston Rd
